About
Domain depth, hands on the work
Sixteen years in, most of it in security and enterprise software. I've led design teams and stayed in the file — the combination is the point, not a compromise.
Most of what I design lives in high-density, high-consequence interfaces: SOC alert triage, SASE troubleshooting, executive analytics, industrial IoT on a plant floor. Different domains, same problem — a person has to make a consequential call quickly, using data that arrives faster and messier than any interface was built for.
I love turning complexity into clarity: taking intricate systems, difficult technical concepts, or noisy data and making them into something a person can actually use under pressure. That work starts with research, not aesthetics. It ends with a measured outcome or it isn't finished.
Great design isn't decoration — it's how complex products become useful, trusted, and adopted.
When I'm not designing, you'll find me being a dad, playing guitar, kayaking, taking photos, or welding metal into something interesting.

Approach
How I work
Most technical products get designed for the people who build them. I design them for the people who have to live with them every day. That answer shapes everything — how research runs, how information gets structured, what counts as done.
Domain first, design second
I get fluent in the product space before opening Figma — the users, their workflows, and what failure actually costs them. I've done this in security, infrastructure, and industrial systems. The depth shows in the work.
What matters, first
Complex products drown users in data. The job is surfacing what matters, to the right person, at the right moment. Information hierarchy isn't a design preference — it's the retention strategy.
Fast tooling, human judgment
I use AI tooling and Figma MCP to move faster — generating directions, structuring briefs, iterating in real time. Every decision still gets a designer's judgment. Speed without judgment just produces more of the wrong thing.
Trust is a feature
Especially in security, how a product feels is part of what it's selling. Every onboarding flow, empty state, and error message either builds or erodes confidence. I design like it matters — because it does.
